　�、� 表示過(guò)去某個(gè)特定時(shí)間發(fā)生的動(dòng)作或存在的狀態(tài)常有明確的時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)，如 yesterday,last night,some years ago,in 1890 等，以及由 when 等引導(dǎo)的時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)從句。

　　例如：

　　Tom didn't come to class yesterday.

　　湯姆昨天沒來(lái)上課。

　　We went to dance last night.

　　昨晚我們?nèi)ヌ�舞了�?br />
　　Hello! I didn't know you were in London.How long have you been here?

　　喂！我不知道你在倫敦。你來(lái)多久了？

　　⒉ 表示過(guò)去的習(xí)慣性或經(jīng)常發(fā)生的動(dòng)作，常與 always，often，usually，seldom 等表示頻度的副詞連用。

　　例如：

　　Then I was in the countryside,I often called on my old friends there.

　　我在鄉(xiāng)村里，經(jīng)常去拜訪那里的朋友。

　　I went to the cinema once a week when I was at school.

　　我上學(xué)時(shí)每周去看一場(chǎng)電影。

　　注意：表示過(guò)去經(jīng)�；蚍磸�(fù)發(fā)生的動(dòng)作，還可用 used to 或 would 加動(dòng)詞原形表示。

　　例如：

　　When I stayed at Aunt Liu's,she would tell me about the great changes which had taken place in the village since liberation.

　　當(dāng)我住在劉大娘家時(shí)，她常常告訴我解放以來(lái)農(nóng)村發(fā)生的巨大變化。

　　She used to go for a walk after supper,but now she prefers to stay at home.

　　她過(guò)去晚飯后總出去散步，但現(xiàn)在她卻真歡呆在家里。

　�、� 用來(lái)代替過(guò)去將來(lái)時(shí)。

　　在條件、時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)從句中，常用一般過(guò)去時(shí)代替過(guò)去將來(lái)時(shí)。

　　例如：

　　They said they would let us know if they heard any news about him.

　　他們說(shuō)如果聽到什么關(guān)于他的消息，就通知我們。

　　He promised that when he went to the bookstore,he would buy me a book.

　　他答應(yīng)去書店時(shí)為我買本書。

　　He said he would not go if it rained.

　　他說(shuō)如果天下雨就不去了。

　　They told us that they would not leave until she came back.

　　他們告訴我們，直到她回來(lái)他們才會(huì)離開。
