【解析】many只能修飾可數名詞的復數，而A、C和D均為不可數名詞，因此正確答案為B。

【例 2】They bought some _____ at the supermarket yesterday. (potato)

【解析】potato是可數名詞，some既可修飾可數名詞的復數，又可修飾不可數名詞，而potato是以o結尾的特殊類型加es，所以應填potatoes。

【例3】Shanghai is one of the biggest ____ in the world. (city)

【解析】以元音字母+y結尾的名詞加-s，如boys, days但以輔音字母+y結尾的名詞，先變y為i，再加-es，如babies, flies, libraries;而city屬于后者，因此正確答案為cities。

【例4】It's over _______ from Shanghai to Nanjing.

A. three hours' drive B. three hour's driveC. three hours drives D. three hours drive

【解析】三小時開車的路程，表示時間、距離、國家、地點等無生命的名詞，所有格也有's的形式，因此選A。
